Finding ¬†ways to stretch your body and your mind are important! So many people tend to focus on working on just one key “area” of themselves, but there are ways to combine and help multiple aspects at the same time!

Every day that we wake up, we put our feet on the floor and put our best foot forward. And while there may be days where that can be hard, it’s something that all of us have to do.

Simple ways to Stretch Your Body and Your Mind

These simple ways to better yourself and your body can be done at any time of the day and by anyone of any age!

  • Stand up and reach for the sky

Sometimes, stress can sit right in the pit of our stomachs. You probably know that feeling, right? Having a huge ball of stress just sitting there with nowhere to go. Instead of letting it consume your feelings and thoughts, stand up and reach for the sky to get it broken up.

And while it may sound a bit silly to think of it that way, it can and will help make you feel better!

  • Give yourself a mental hug throughout your entire day

Life can be tough. Some days you might just want to crawl right back in bed before ever leaving your house. Don’t beat yourself up about that thought or feeling…we’ve all been there. Life and adulting can be rough. Not every day is going to be sunshine and butterflies, but there are things that you can do to make your day just a little bit better.

When you’re having a tough time or a negative thought, stop and give yourself a mental hug. (or heck, give yourself a real hug if you want!) Tell yourself something positive about you. Compliment your laugh or the way that you snort when something is really funny…Tell yourself that your shoes are on point or that your lipstick color matches your skin tone perfectly. ANYTHING to give yourself and instant and positive boost.

The key is to do this multiple times throughout the day so that you can remember just how truly awesome you are. This will help to keep your mind functioning in a way that will have you taking steps forward rather than backwards toward the bed.

  • Get out and enjoy the day

Many people tend to say that they “don’t have the time” to get out and move their bodies during the day. And while that may be a simple answer, it may not be a truthful one.

Find the time to show yourself some activity. Take a walk around the block during your lunch, grab a quick yoga session after work or do some stretches right when you wake up…if you have 15 minutes or spare time ANYWHERE in your day, you can physically be doing some sort of activity to stretch and work your body.

And even if you don’t have the time, find a way to get yourself up and moving more where you work. Take an extra lap or two around the inside of your office to get in a few more steps, or walk to the printer and back every time you print a page.
