Block negativity from your life

The truth of the matter is that negativity rears its head in so many different ways. Negative friends, family members or even strangers walking down the street can have a huge impact on the outcome of your day. This year, block it from even making a dent.

While it may be easier said than done, you have the power to be positive. You have the ability to start each day off on the best foot possible and you hold the keys to the kingdom of making yourself happy.

If you continue to let others drag you down with them, you’ll constantly be trying to get to the surface to break free. Don’t fall victim to that vicious cycle.

Exercise your brain just as much as you exercise your body

It’s no secret that your brain needs a workout every day, just like your body does. While you can spend the day doing yoga or running on the trails, try to make time to give your mental space a workout as well.

Read books, do puzzles or test yourself on your knowledge. You’ll be amazed that keeping your brain busy and active is a great way to stop those thoughts and feelings of stress from creeping in. We all know that stress is no good, so do what you can to keep it at bay!

Set aside 30 minutes daily for “you”

This is huge. Every single day set aside 30 minutes that is solely just for you. No work, no answering questions to anyone else, no helping anyone with anything…it’s your time to do what you want to do. Want to read your new book? Go for it. Maybe spend your 30 minutes scrolling around on Facebook? Sounds great, make it happen.

No one gets any input on what you’re going to spend those 30 minutes doing because they are YOUR 30 minutes. No interruptions, nothing. Find a room, close the door and relax. Taking this time to yourself each and every day will give you a sense of relaxation and peace that you never knew you were missing.

Millions of people all over the world are kicking off the New Year and already working on their New Years resolutions. And while that’s amazing, that doesn’t need to be your focus. Your focus needs to be on how you can have a healthy mind that then converts into a healthy body.

This thought process and want isn’t a resolution, but a way of life. It will take persistence, patience and pushing yourself more than you ever thought possible…but in the end, you’ll also get to know yourself and your wants and needs on a whole other level.

Why not make 2019 the year about “you”? You can have a healthy mind and a healthy body and there’s no better time than the present to make it happen.
